OLAP and PerformancePoint: Leveraging the Warehouse

Summary: SQL Server Analysis Services and PerformancePoint Services are tools in the Microsoft BI stack used for displaying data. Analysis Services allow analysts to investigate data quickly and dynamically without IT having to write queries. PerformancePoint Services displays high level KPIs to executives to be viewed at a glance. These tools leverage the data warehouse to users who may not have technical expertise. This presentation will describe the process of adding KPIs, setting KPI targets, displaying parallel period KPIs, deploying a cube, creating a PerformancePoint dashboard in a BI SharePoint site, and creating dashboard objects. With these created the foundation will exist to leverage the power of the data warehouse and deliver it to users who need the data the most.
